I made these as a gift for my boys. I am planning on getting them some watercolor paints for their birthday and I thought they would enjoy a place for their brushes that is wholly their own. This was actually a very simple craft.
First I painted watercolors on a piece of felt . This is just a standard piece of white felt you would find in a craft store. I turned it over several times as it dried in the sun
I cut a strip of felt and weaved it in a sushi mat .
I cut slits in the remaining felt to make another paintbrush roll.
The bamboo roll is very satisfying because it easily rolls up and lies flat. I think the felt roll is more visually pleasing but it is not as sturdy. This would be better option if you have thick paint brushes though. I was very pleased by the results of such a simple craft out of things I already had at home. I hope the boys will enjoy these for years to come.
