If you are looking for a sensory activity for summer that requires no set up, this is it! I think it’s easy to overthink sensory play, to spend hours on dyeing rice and collecting trinkets. This is a great sensory experience for young children. My son enjoyed splashing in the water, exploring the different textures, scooping the water with the shells, and counting them. We collected the sea seashells while we were at the beach, so he could also remember and recall our day at the beach. I try to identify the shells to enrich the activity. I use this book to help me identify them. I also pulled out this book to incorporate into the activity. This book is also very informative and provides a sensory experience through different textures within the pages.
