We made these beautiful suncatchers to celebrate Autumn Solstice. They are made out of round coffee filters. We used the template provided here https://www.funathomewithkids.com/2014/08/fall-window-art-leaf-suncatchers-free.html.
I had already made a madder dye bath, so that’s what we used to color these. We used a dropper tool, which helps with fine motor skills. We mixed the madder with turmeric, and the boys were able to watch the colors turn from red and yellow to orange. You can also use food dye or watercolors for the same effect. Once to filters were dry, I glued them to the slider door with a glue stick. Overall, this was a simple project, which was the perfect thing for our family to celebrate the first day of fall!
